3 out of 5 stars Mid-price Wireless Headphones fill the Gap   July 27, 2010
Albert Meyer Pflug (Stanhope, NJ)
I asked for these headphones since my old wired headphones had literally fallen apart. I wanted a wireless set since I really like the wireless Sennheiser set I use at work but I didn't think the price for a Sennheiser would be worth it. I also wanted IR headphones because I didn't want another RF source to cause frequency interference with other electronics in the house. Plus, I usually use these right in front of my PC, so I can have the transmitter above my monitor and I don't have to worry about losing the signal if I leave the room.

After several weeks of using the headhpones for listening to music or playing games on my PC, I think these headphones will work fine until I have the money to buy a Sony MDR-IF540RK ($62) or Pioneer SE-DIR800C ($250). The biggest gripe I have is comfort. These start to bother my ears after prolonged use, whereas my larger Sennheiser headphones cover the entire ear and are much more comfortable.

2 out of 5 stars Not for use with big screen plasma tvs   July 22, 2010
Richard J. Green (Oakland, California USA)
I was excited to get this product for a gift, only to discover it becomes unuseable with static when you are sitting in front of a plasma TV. It works fine with a stereo and possibly with other TV's, but not a plasma. The problem is with the IR between the headphones and the base. Maybe if your far enough away it would work, but if you want to sit in a normal viewing distance, look for something else. Also, the sound volume is somewhat limited.

5 out of 5 stars A great product   July 20, 2010

No matter the price of your HDTV the sound cannot compete with the picture unless youn also purchase a HDTV sound system.
These headphones were my solution to that expensive proposition. They're worth every penny in sound!!!!!

4 out of 5 stars GREAT WAY TO LISTEN   July 20, 2010
Ralph Izzo (New Jersey)
This is the 4th one I bought. I recommend it to those who don't want to miss any of you shows or movies due to noisie surroundings.

4 out of 5 stars Great for TV   July 18, 2010
Fred (Bay Area)
I have couple of Sennheiser RF headphones for music but the signal to noise ratio were poor - that is, constant hissing white noise in the background. The advantage of this Sony is the hissing is mostly at a lower level but I couldn't take it to the back or front yards like RF Sennheisers. Range of this Sony is only about 20 feet and must be in direct line of sight from the transmitter. It's also more comfortable than my Sennheisers and cheaper too.

Perfect for TV viewing, pretty good for music too. It's cleaner than the Sennheisers without the clicks, hiss and pops artifacts from the RF headphones. Must use the included proprietary battery or charger won't charge. Super long battery life between charge cycles, enough for all day and night and then some.

What's in the box?
Home base transmitter/charger unit with stereo RCA and 1/8" (3.5mm) inputs.
Power supply
Stereo male RCA to male 1/8" cable.
1/4" plug adaptor
Wireless headphone
Proprietary 1.5V AAA rechargeable battery for headphone.
