Not very impressive August 19, 2010 Nick 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Price is not terrible, but I've compared them to a couple other pairs I have including a Phillips SHE9700/27 which is an in ear bud type on sale for about $25 or so when I bought them, and there's no comparison in quality.
The Philips have a crisp sound at all volumes and the treble is clear and the deep bass thumps (doesn't drown out other parts of music). This sony pair has a deep muffle that robs the buds from crisp sound. Furthermore the comfort isn't impressive due to sharp ridges along the edges that is very irritating and painful (in my ears at least). Also the sound pitch changes based on the angle that the earbuds are in your ears. One second it can be deep and muffled and turn them just a hair and you'll hear more treble and much less bass. This isn't bad except for the time it takes to adjust them every time you put them in.
A few nice things about them is the cord is the perfect length to run to my pocket (I'm six foot four inches) and should work for most people. The pair doesn't block out much background noise (good and bad) which helps when you're around traffic (as I walk around campus) or somewhere you need to hear people (hallways etc). They also stay in the ear pretty well but are very relieving to take out. Overall I'd say invest in a nicer pair (there are better pairs for the same money).
nothing u do will kill these guys... July 17, 2010 sjavvaji 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This probably one of the best headphones you will ever purchase, period.
Pros:
Sound:
First of all, these things have really nice sound quality edging on the Sennheiser CX300's. These headphones are just amazing with lows, mids, and highs. The base can be a little deeper but that can be fixed with any equalizer. Really no complaints in this part and I am pressed say you won't find headphones better than for $75.
Design:
These things are straight RUGGED. I have owned these for about 7-8 months now and I am really amazed at how resilient they are. They got run over by a rolly chair with a 200 pound person on it without a scratch (albeit the paint got scuffed a bit). I even put them in the washer by accident. No problem for these bad boys. This is something I saw was an issue with the bose In-ear headphone. The wire was getting stripped on the Bose pretty easily. I have not found a way to hurt these yet. I accidentally run over the wires and just tugged at it really hard as well. Nothing happens.
(Cons: The wire is a bit short but it should be fine. The headphones are only comfy if you have medium or large size ears. A few of my friends could not fit it in their ears. Something to watch out for)
If you are planning buy these, just remember that you will fall in love and these things will still be working after you die :D.
Great value June 27, 2010 Abbas (Los Angeles, CA) I use these at work, and they're really good value for money. My only minor complaint is the length of the cord. Bottom line, though, is that the sound quality these provide is unparalleled in its class, and for the price. I've tried several other earphones in this price range, and none comes close. Would definitely recommend.
Still the best headphones, if they fit. June 24, 2010 Giberson 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have been buying these exact headphones for over ten years now. Since well before the first generation iPod, I have used these headphones as a far superior alternative to whatever came with the portable device I was using. When I first started using them, they had the best range and efficiency and lowest distortion of all the other in-the-hear alternatives. Since then, lots of models have come out--including a number that are well over $100.00--but I still have not found ANY alternatives with better sound. In my opinion, to beat the sound quality you not only have to get a pair that is an order of magnitude more expensive, you will need an over the ear model. The only catch is, if they do not fit your ears--probably because they are too big--they are practically worthless.
Good Ear Design, heavy bass June 2, 2010 Remaining Anonymous ahaha (CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I got these for one reason--I wanted headphones that fit in the ear with this protruding non-round shape, whatever it's called. They are not round-faced earbuds, they have a small section of the speaker part that protrudes further into the ear and delivers bass. I read this type of earbud was the new best kind because memory foam and other earphones weren't designed with our ears' anatomy in mind--our ears are NOT round!
The cord is long enough for most everything. They don't block out much noise. The bass is slightly overpowering for my tase, but you can simply adjust the equalizer in your ipod settings, as with any headphones.
